Futuresonic was excited to co-present the worldwide launch of the amazing TENORI-ON by Toshio Iwai and Yamaha.
TENORI-ON is a unique AV instrument - a cross between performance instrument and art object. The TENORI-ON is an example of Device Art - it was created by an artist in a way that was simultaneously art and commercial development.
Yamaha decided to stage the worldwide launch in the UK following the success of Toshio Iwai's show using TENORI-ON at Futuresonic 2006, also featuring Iwai's Electroplankton and SoundLens. The TENORI-ON has been showcased and refined at major music events and media art festivals; Sonar (Spain), Futuresonic (UK), Ars Electronica (Austria), SIGGRAPH (USA) and Art Futura (Spain), with the first fully realised live show produced by Futuresonic in Manchester as a part of Futuresonic 2006.
What they said about TENORI-ON at Futuresonic 2006:
"My friend and myself walked out of that performance at Manchester Academy physically stunned."
Toshio Iwai was joined at the worldwide launch events by Robert Lippok, Fourtet and Secondo on 4th September at Phonica in London and by Robert Lippok, Secondo and Graham Massey on 5th September at Mint Lounge in Manchester.
Toshio Iwai on the worldwide launch:
"Yamaha decided to make TENORI-ON a UK exclusive after its presentation at Futuresonic" - Toshio Iwai, 4 September 2007.
